The Original Paintings Story:
This painting was an interesting one. She popped into my head late June of 2021 and I felt compelled to paint what I saw. The day was now July 7th, she was done the morning of and I decided to name her "Angwas ke Sere" which roughly translates from Haitian Creole as "Blind Anguish".

That NIGHT, on July 7th the Haitian prime minister Jovenel M. was assassinated. I found this out a day or two later and was just floored. This painting definitely was feeding off the imminent futures emotions and wanted to be made for a reason. I just wasn't allowed to be privy to the reason until after everything. Which makes her all the more powerful and alive. 

I still don't know if the tarantula on her head is friend or foe. Based on why she wanted to be made it could go either way. Is it about to assassinate her? or is it protecting her from things she can not see, offering itself as a warning sign to any ill-willed passersby? I'd like to think the latter...
